Short and Sweet

time to relax :)

We just dropped Javi off at the OC’s house (Aunt Jen and Uncle Ben Ben). I thought I would be on the ground crying my heart out, but I’m actually doing okay!

It’s the first time since I got my diagnosis my mind is not running in a million directions. It’s actually stopped. There’s nothing else to do except exist. And that is all I want to do. So this post is going to be short and sweet.

There is not enough thanks for all the support and love we have received from people in all chapters of life. It has been so heartwarming to see messages from people from 5, 10, 15, 20, and even 30 years ago!!! Thank you!!! And the fun memories my mind has gone down reminiscing about life.

Maybe when I’m healing I’ll come back to these journal topics that have been stewing in my head:

  • The disparity of care between illnesses. Cancer is like the red carpet of medical care, I wish all other illnesses got this same respect.

  • Preparing for surgery while being a mom! (so stressful)

  • Experiencing play therapy from a mom’s lens instead of a play therapist’s lens (and holy moly, the power of play therapy. Javi had his first session last night, game changer! He can’t wait to go back to his next one.)

  • How I prepared Javi for my surgery (through medical play and children’s books)

  • How I prepared home for recovery (I might have created a color coded chart with corresponding stickers for my care giving team)

  • Things I’m most excited about with “getting chopped.” (Here’s a couple: no more boob sweat, no more underwire digging into my rib cage, being 10 pounds freer, being able to see my feet when I go up and down stairs, no more double sports bras, and the list goes on!)

  • Sending gratitude to everyone and what that means to us!!

I’m going to go take my shower with my special antibacterial soap and then I’m going to go chill with Antonio because we finally have the time and space and who knows what the next month will be like for us.

See you all on the other side!

p.s. My surgery is at 9:00am tomorrow (7/31). Antonio will now keep you all updated! I’m curious to see what those updates will be like!
