It's been one month!!

and three days

Where I’m at 4 weeks and 3 days post op:

  • On Thursday, I was able to put my hair in a low pony tail!!! It was hard, and it took me a while, but I did it!

    • Today, Saturday, I was able to do a high pony tail - once again, it was hard and took me a while.

  • I started joining Antonio on his morning walks with Millie. I’m really enjoying that time of movement and just connecting with Antonio. We walk for about a mile.

  • The past two weekends we have been going out in public! It might wipe me out energy wise, but it has been so good for the soul.

  • Due to all the added movement - my noobs filled up with fluid! Which means my flabby skin that was left over from the mastectomy is filling up! I would say my noobs are now a size A and growing into a B with all the fluid hanging out in there.

    • With drain removal, it is common to get fluid build up. It’s kind of fun now pushing on my noobs because I feel the fluid move around from one side to the other. It’s like those little flat water sensory toys you used to play with when little. I can even rock my body side to side and watch the fluid swish from side to side.

  • My arms can lay flat by my side!! It still feels like there something stuck under my arms, but nothing is poking out at them anymore. Thank goodness.

  • I still struggle to lift my room arm, it feels extremely tight and tender. Going to see how it is on Monday and possibly check out a PT for it.

  • I had my appointment on Thursday!

    • Antonio came with me because there was no wound care happening. It was important to me that he got to me Dr. Potter and her team that has been taking care of me.

    • I got the approval that I am ready to move onto surgery 2!

    • With that I will have to get a CT scan ahead of time so my plastic surgeon can map out all my blood vessels so she’ll know where to disconnect and reconnect them.

    • With this surgery, it will be 1-2 day stay in hospital (I’m secretly hoping for two).

    • And then I get to use a walker for two weeks! I have a friend who is ready to pimp my ride!

    • Due to my fluid build up, the doctor does not see a need to fill my expanders with saline. 1) my noobs are already being filled with fluid which is stretching my skin 2) higher chance of infection with filling expanders when there’s fluid surrounding it. I’m relieves that I don’t have to do this step!

    • They cleared me to get back to regular life - which will be go at your own pace. I plan on starting pilates again two or three times a week and working my way up. I’m lucky as my pilates instructor used to teach pilates for breast cancer survivors so she has knowledge on how to work with me! There’s no way I will be jumping into where I left off at. I’ll have to rebuild my strength and stamina.

    • I’ve started pooping on my own, finally!!! No more laxatives, just daily HyFiber.

    • I’m almost to laying flat again at night. I still prop myself up with pillows and sleep at a minor incline. Antonio might be coming back to bed this week!

    • We should get my next surgery date early this week.

  • And we found an alternative plan for Javi’s after school care, since we totally forgot to sign him up for care through the school district. He will start attending gymnastic/ninja classes every day after school at a place directly across the street from his school! He is super excited for all the obstacles and hopefully this will help burn some of this excess energy so we won’t have so many tantrums!

That is it for now as we are getting ready for a family movie night!
